Regarding workplace etiquette, there’s no place for anything that resembles sexual harassment. There’re lots of better ways to be nice professionally than to compliment the opposite sex on how she looks or even her outfit. If someone of the opposite sex, especially someone subordinate, tells you that she’s uncomfortable with your comments, it’s best to first apologize and then reflect on why. If you need, have a meaningful conversation with her later to understand why. It’s wise to believe her feelings rather than your own right to free speech.
